Meeting and Events Diary 2026

The association organises monthly meeting for our members, featuring practical beekeeping topics including disease control, catching a swarm and swarm management, making mead and much more. We also organise social events, such as the annual barbecue, Christmas dinner, tail gate party in our apiary and hold a members raffle each month.

Dates and details

Thursday Feb, 7-9pm with speaker John McMullan,  ‘Managing AFB in your apiary’

Thursday 5 March, 7-9pm with speaker Michael Kelly. Topic: ‘Solid wood floors versus open mesh floors’ discussion and report from his research project on this topic.  Followed by a discussion on DIY projects for the beekeepers - making your own beekeeping equipment and saving propolis.

Thursday 9 April 7-9pm, 7-9pm with speaker Alan Brady - Topic Demaree & Snelgrove methods of swarm control

Saturday 18 April 10am - 1pm Workshop for new and not so new beekeepers - topics will include honeybee diseases and basic beekeeping skills. Note event booked out - but email info@fingalbeekeepers.net if you wish to be added to the cancellation list.

Thursday 7 May 7-9pm General meeting - Topic 'Bees and The Law & are you insured?' with Paul Keane.

Biog: Paul Keane is a solicitor and Chairperson of our association. He has been keeping bees for 50 years, with apiaries in the Castleknock area and further afield. Healso gives talks on various aspects of beekeeping, legal and practical, to beekeeping associations and at the Annual Federation of Irish Beekeepers Summer School.

Garden visit – Botanic Gardens Glasnevin, Wednesday 27th May, 2.30pm - prior registration required.

May June and July - Beginners' Apiary Visits - guided tours of the apiary with opportunity to observe and practice basic beekeeping skills.

Saturday 6 June, 11am – 2pm – Apiary visit, and demonstrations, followed by the tail gate party and barbecue.

Thursday 5 Nov 7-9pm Fun Honey Show followed by The John McMullan Cup competition
